arrow_back Changing Level Design

Right now this game has a plain, white backdrop. In this add-on, you’ll program the backdrop to change each time the player sprite reaches the finish line.

First, you need to add more backdrops to your project. Click the “choose new backdrop from library” button, and choose a few backdrops for your project.

This example project will use water-based themes.

Now that you’ve added the backdrops to your program, you need to program the computer to change them when the player sprite reaches the finish line. Click your player sprite, select the looks menu, and drag out a “switch backdrop to”. Click the dropdown menu and select “next backdrop” . Click this a few times, and you’ll see that it changes the backdrop each time.

This code checks if the player sprite touches the finish line.

Add the “switch backdrop to next backdrop” block to the inside of the if block. That will make the backdrop change when the sprite hits the finish line.

Try it! Great, when the player touches the finish line, the backdrops change.
