Congratulations on coding today’s computer science project! But the fun isn't over yet.
Computer scientists often continue to work on projects after the basic programming isin place, to make them more original and interesting. Now, you get the chance to do the same withadd-ons. This screencast will explain the add-ons you can choose to customize your project.
Just like in the main screencasts for this project, watch the screencast first to learnhow to build the add-on, then try programming it on your own. To get started, simply clickon one of the add-on choices after you watch this screencast.
Add more sounds for the DJ sprite to mix into the background music in “Add More Samples.”
In “Dancers,” add a sprite that breakdances to the music your DJ sprite spins.
DJs love to get into the music--give your DJ some moves in “DJ Dancer.”
In the “Light Show” add-on, add a stage backdrop with sweet color-changing lightsto set the scene for the DJs music mixing. Add another background track for the DJ spriteto mix and a button-press event to change the track In “Switch the Background Track.”
In “Crowd Pleaser,” add a crowd that appears and cheers when the music gets good.
Before you start playing around with these add-ons, though, save a copy of your baseproject. Computer scientists often save copies of their projects before they tinker withthem, to ensure that they can always return to a working version of their code. To savea copy, go to “file” and select “save as a copy.”
Once you have done that, take some time to explore the add-ons that interest you. Ifyou want to continue to create and explore after today’s club is over, you can accessScratch and CS First from any computer that has access to the internet. Have fun creating, customizing, and making this project your own!
