Music can add a lot of excitement to your project.

In this video, you will add music and a new background to help show your hero’s personality and make your project unique.

First, add background music. Select the stage.

Then, click the sounds tab and choose a sound.

Explore the Scratch Music library. Longer sounds, like loops, make great background music.

To add background music to your project, return to the code tab, and drag out a “play sound until done” block from the Sounds menu.

Click the drop-down menu, and select the name of the sound you chose.

Click the block to test it out.

Great job!

Play the sound over and over again by adding a loop from the control menu.

Loops repeat the actions inside of it. Tinker with the values until your project works the way you want.

Awesome.

Then, add a “when flag clicked” event to the top of your block stack.

Click the flag to test it out.

Awesome! The background music plays when the green flag is clicked.

Add more detail to your project by changing the backdrop.

Select the stage again. Go to the backdrops tab and click “Choose a backdrop."

For this project, choose a simple backdrop that makes it easy to see your hero and building sprites.

Once you’ve added background music to your project, come back to this page to check out more videos!
